Sahara Desert

Best Time to Visit

October to April is ideal — days are warm (15–28°C) and nights cool but not freezing. July and August see temperatures above 45°C; avoid unless you love extreme heat.

Getting There

The Sahara is an 8–9 hour private 4×4 drive from Marrakech or Fez. The road through the Atlas Mountains and kasbah villages is spectacular — the journey is half the experience.

Where to Stay

We arrange nights in private luxury desert camps — real Berber tents with proper beds, lantern lighting, and local-cooked meals. Nothing like glamping; nothing like roughing it either.

What to Pack

Layers for cold nights, sun protection, a headscarf for windstorms, and a wide-angle lens. We provide sleeping bags and warm blankets in all camp packages.

Common Questions
Is it safe to sleep in the Sahara?
Absolutely. Our desert camps are fully staffed by experienced Berber guides who know the area intimately. Camps include real beds, blankets, and gourmet food — safety and comfort are never compromised.
How cold does the desert get at night?
In winter (Dec–Feb), night temperatures can drop to 0°C. In spring and autumn, expect 8–15°C. We always provide warm sleeping bags and blankets, and campfires burn through the night.
Can children experience the Sahara?
Yes — the Sahara is magical for children. Camel rides are gentle, sandboarding is a family favourite, and Berber campfire nights create lifelong memories. We tailor the pace to all ages.
Is there phone signal in the desert?
Signal is limited around Merzouga village but absent in the deep dunes. Most guests treat this as a feature — a rare chance to fully disconnect. Emergency satellite communication is available at all camps.

"We were nervous about 'glamping' but the camp was genuinely wonderful — real beds, incredible food, warm blankets. Waking up to the sunrise camel trek over Erg Chebbi dunes was something else entirely."

"The drive through the Atlas and down into the Draa Valley is almost better than the desert itself. Our guide knew every stop, every viewpoint. The whole four-day tour felt personally curated."
